Three Cities That Party Way Harder Than You Thought

There are so many cities in the world that have great reputations for partying hard, that a lot of the smaller cities go unnoticed or don’t get the recognition they deserve. College students, fresh grads, or those trying to make their livers hate them, will flock to the big cities such as New York City, Dubai, Ibiza, along with many others to capture the perfect Snapchat story for their 56 followers. All of these big cities burn deep holes in your pockets which is a problem for the majority of us just trying to rage. So if you’re strapped for cash and looking to party hard like the big boys, check out these cities for a few nights you will certainly forget:

Edinburgh, Scotland

This city is probably the most under-rated city for most Americans who are planning to party abroad. Not for the British or Europeans. Edinburgh is the home to the University of Edinburgh raking in over 35,000 students where the drinking age is 18. That’s right, 18. So when you do that math, that means 100 percent of the 35,000 students can drink, and they do. No—really. Not a single American university or college can even come close to competing with these numbers. Virtually every single bar, pub, tavern, and club is shaking with EDM, live music, or what they call “Cheese” music (think of 134 different versions of the “Friends” theme song) 7 days a week. Looking to dance? Hookup? Drink? Eat? This is your place.

Bonus: When your stumbling out of the club or bar, you are surrounded with the most beautiful Gothic, cobble-stoned Scenery that will make you feel like you’re in the middle of Hogwarts.

Double Bonus: J.K. Rowling wrote the first few Harry Potter Books in a small café called The Elephant House which you can still check out today.

Places To Check Out:

The Hive

This place is divey, smelly, and cheap, but holy shit you will have a blast. It will probably turn out to be your favorite place here. The Hive is always packed, but in a comfortable way. You will never be nut to butt with someone unless your killing it out on the dance floor. The Hive is a party 7 days a week and for 1£ beers, this place is hard to beat.

Lulu

On the other end of the spectrum, we have Lulu. Lulu is a higher end club with multiple dance floors, LED lights, and EDM rocking the whole night away. Everyone gets dressed up (Skirts/Dresses and Button Downs/Dockers) to go to Lulu’s but the prices are still really reasonable and isn’t as high end as it wants to be. Nevertheless, Lulu offers good music, beautiful people, and great drinks with tons of room to enjoy your night.

Edinburgh Pub Crawl

The moment you take a step on The Royal Mile, you will most likely be offered to join in on one of the 20 pub crawls going on that night. In NYC, you would probably look at this person offering the crawl with utter disgust and annoyance, but EVERYBODY does the pub crawl in Edinburgh. Its worth it because you automatically check out at least 5 different places that night and you instantly meet anyone joining in on the fun with you which you could identify with a tiny wristband.

If participating isn’t your vibe, you could always meet people who are participating in the crawl and have them tell you where they are going so you can follow them around, you’ll just miss out on the awesome drink specials.

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague has been named the hidden gem of Europe, and rightfully so. With nothing but cobble-stoned streets and dozens of cathedrals over a thousand plus years old, your walk of shame will turn into your best sightseeing tour out there.

Places To Check Out:

Karlovy lázně

This club is 5 stories high sporting a dance floor on every level, all of which are playing different types of music. There are exotic dances, lasers, catwalks and so many other features that your mind will be easily overloaded. There is always a bit of a line but it’s worth the wait and extremely easy to get drinks quickly because there’s at least 3 bars per floor. Enough said here.

M1 Lounge

A tiny, upscale club that offers mostly only table service. But if you wait until 2 A.M, (Club closes at 6 A.M) you will walk through the front door straight to the dance floor like you’ve had a table the whole time. Best place to finish off your night by far.

James Dean Club

JDC, which is in fact themed-based off of James Dean, has a pretty neat underground club scene that is worth checking out. Once you get there at the right time (around 1 A.M.) this club is popping full force with a great live band that will never let you down.

Berlin, Germany

Berlin is a massive city, but it makes up for it by putting the majority of the major clubs you’ll want to go to right next to each other. If you didn’t know already, Berlin is pretty infamous for their Deep Haüs trance clubs that are all inside giant abandoned warehouses. Most are fashioned with hanging Edison bulbs enough to please any type of hipster out there.

Places To Check Out:

Berghain

I’ll admit, I didn’t get into this club. The seven girls that followed us with no guys didn’t’ get into this club, along with the fedora-wearing man and his date. Why? Berghain is notorious for not letting people in for no reason whatsoever. The decision is completely up to the bouncers and if they don’t like anything about you, they’ll say no. Or they can love you, and still say no. When waiting in line, no one says a word. It’s eerily quite because nobody wants to give the bouncers a reason to deny them. Everyone gets denied anyway. Want to know how to get in? Read this article covered by GQ who interviewed the notorious bouncer here.

Tresor

This place is Berlin’s Deep Haüs music in a nutshell. You wont find any EDM, Techo, or top 40 music playing at this place. Instead, you’ll find dancers lighty bobbing on the dance floor completely in trance to the most soothing music in the area. This is the place you’ll want to go to for the full Berlin experience.

Matrix

The Matrix is perfect club with a full dance floor for dancing with a massive outdoor area to hang out and cool off from all the calories you just burned. Oh yea, and there are a few full-sized bird cages for you to climb into (or walk into) to dance your asses off in front of everyone. Don’t be embarrassed, everyone does it.
