Summer is now long gone and hitting the rooftop bars for happy hour are abruptly coming to an end. So as the weather has been shifting colder (MUCH colder), so has my style. I’m not talking about going from t-shirts to long sleeve shirts or shorts to sweatpants… that’s obvious. What needed to change along with the weather was the WAY I styled my clothes.

Let me explain: In the summer months, you tend to wear a lot LESS clothing than you would in the winter…. (I know, duh). This means less accessories, less layers, less material, and showing more of your skin. You therefore have less items to style with. For me, it consisted of bright summer colors, a leather watch, a pair of shades, a chambray, some dockers and shoes. Pretty basic stuff.
But now that it’s getting colder, it’s time to layer on that bomber jacket, the cashmere scarf, those wool gloves, a cardigan, and maybe even the pea coat. Personally, there are two things I do to change my style. First, I change my color scheme. I transition my color options from bright summer colors to a combination of black, grays, and whites. The second style change I make is to my accessories. I change my accessories because my color scheme has changed as well. It just makes sense for me to have everything match and flow.
So the first accessory I will be changing this Winter will be my watch. To me, the watch is the most important accessory to a person’s style. It defines who you are and how you hold yourself. Watches are bold and can make a powerful statement about your style when it is worn correctly. Typically, I enjoy rocking a classic watch with a leather strap, a white face and a gold colored trim on the outside. But now that the weather is changing, along with my style, I’m making the transition to a JORD Wood Watch this Winter.
Why a wood watch and why JORD? It’s simple. To me, wooden watches are simply unique. They aren’t your typical stainless steel watch that everyone else in the world has. Wearing a wooden watch allows me to make a statement about my style and allows me to show that I can accessorize well. Furthermore, it’s just a great conversation starter and draws attention to you AND your style. People WILL be intrigued by it.
Of all the Wood Watch makers out there, JORD offer’s me three things above the rest of the competition. The first is that it fits my style extremely well and they have unisex , men and women styles found here. The second is that it is surprisingly durable….which I was skeptical at first, but nevertheless the third is that it is EXTREMELY affordable which was a HUGE plus! That makes it the perfect holiday gift.
JORD Wood Watches come in a variety of some really cool wood options ranging from bamboo to sandalwood and to walnut. In fact, they have 10 different types of wood to pick from along with colors. The one I’ve been rocking on my left wrist to fit my Fall and Winter style has been the Dark Sandalwood & Smoke Wood Watch from the FRANKIE Series (found here). It’s the perfect combination of minimalism and modernity.
Having a wooden watch can certainly raise some concerns without a proper education on the durability of certain woods. But the Dark Sandalwood & Smoke Wood Watch is made out of…..well Sandalwood, which is an extremely durable and reliable wood. Being in New York City, I’m very prone to whacking, bumping and running into things which meant so was my watch. Fortunately, it was able to withstand against the many dings, scratches, bumps from the subway handrails, food counters, escalators, and every other clumsy thing I find myself doing with my hands. This was a great relief.
Since JORD is a Luxury Hand Crafted Wood Watch designer, they won me over with their affordability with watches starting as low as $129! So to me, JORD Wood Watches were clearly the best choice for my sense of style and my price range!
I hope you enjoyed my post and although this post was sponsored by JORD Wood Watches, all the opinions and writing expressed are of my own!
